Vettori targets better bowling performance

Bangalore captain Daniel Vettori feels it's only a matter of time before his bowlers step up and the side delivers a perfect all-round performance.

The Royal Challengers face Mumbai Indians on Friday in the second IPL Qualifier knowing that they must bowl better than they did against Chennai earlier in the week, when they allowed the opposition to smash 106 runs in the last eight overs to chase down a target of 176.

Vettori says that the team have spoken about went wrong in the closing stages of that match and will not panic when it comes to their selection for Friday.

"We realised small things that went wrong in the last five overs. Prior to that everything went as per plans. We are looking at the game tomorrow. We will probably go with same team but with slight improvements in the bowling," said Vettori.

"Our batting has been pretty good in the whole tournament and sooner or later the bowling will come good as well."

Vettori also moved to play down Bangalore's relaince on West Indian opener Chris Gayle, who was the leading run-scorer in the league stage but failed with the bat against Chennai.

Virat Kohli was the man to step up on that occasion and power Bangalore to a competitive total with some classy strokeplay, but there's no doubt that Gayle is the single biggest factor in the Royal Challengers batting line-up.

"We know Chris has played well and he has been the main scorer for us this season, winning so many games for us. But we have other batsmen like Virat Kohli who have stepped up and performed when needed," Vettori insisted.

"So if Gayle has an off-day, we are still confident that we can win games."
